Bruntwood helps Manchester Uni climate change study

Bruntwood is to 'donate' its office buildings to science for a study into climate change adaptation by the University of Manchester.

The developer said the project will "test climate change adaptation methods for buildings, looking at how we can tackle the challenges of climate change to maintain comfortable working conditions."

Bruntwood owns 90 office buildings, concentrated in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.

Other parts of the Eco Cities project will research adaptation methods for public spaces and homes and provide the city with its first blueprint for a climate change adaptation strategy that will become a resource for planners, and building occupiers.

The project will be launched at an event at the Town Hall on the morning of Thursday 23 July. At the same time, the University of Manchester and Manchester City Council will sign a joint commitment on the response of urban areas to climate change.
