Bruntwood and Trafford JV eyes Kellogg’s approval
Trafford Council is expected to approve plans to redevelop the site of the former Kellogg’s headquarters opposite Old Trafford Cricket Ground into 750 homes, around 200,000 sq ft of office space and a 75,000 sq ft primary school.
The joint venture between the council and developer Bruntwood lodged the plans in February, which also propose a 50,000 sq ft leisure facility, 100-bedroom hotel and a 6,500 sq ft power plant to provide sustainably sourced energy for the site off Talbot Road.
The 10-acre plot forms part of Trafford Council’s 120-acre Civic Quarter masterplan.
The existing UA92 building, the former HQ office of cereal manufacturer Kellogg’s that was retrofitted and opened last year, will act as the centre point of the site, with the various other phases constructed around it.
A total of 15% of the homes will be designated as affordable, according to the joint venture.
A decision on the plan was anticipated in the spring but was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The plans have been recommended for approval when Trafford’s planning committee meets next Thursday.
The architect for the development is Feilden Clegg Bradley, Planit-IE is the landscape architect and consultancy Avison Young is the planner.
Bruntwood Works, the developer’s offices arm, and Trafford are also working to redevelop Stretford Mall and last week launched the latest consultation on the project.
