Marcus Dixon is the director of UK residential research at JLL. Few have a better grasp of where the residential market is heading than Dixon. He will provide an in-depth look at how PBSA fits into our towns and cities, where the growth areas are, and what the knock-on effect of delivering more purpose-built student housing will be on the rest of the resi market.

Rachael Gordon

Racheal Gordon is the head of deal execution at Maslow Capital. Maslow has been more active than most funders during the recent economic upheaval. Gordon will touch on key deals in the student housing arena, discuss how developers are adapting to the inflationary environment and explain why Maslow sees PBSA as an attractive proposition.

Edward Tarratt is an associate director at LUC. University campuses are changing. What students want and need has evolved rapidly over recent years and companies like LUC are at the forefront of driving evolution. Tarratt will draw on his past experience of working with universities across the country to provide valuable insight on the direction our institutions are heading to win the war on talent.

Peter Greenall is vice principal at Blackpool and Fylde Sixth Form College. The college and Blackpool Council have patterned up on a pioneering education project aimed at upskilling the town’s population. Greenhall will discuss how the Multiversity will work, who it is for, and how it will contribute towards the resort’s regeneration.

George Tyson (x)

George Tyson is project director at Downing. Occupying a senior role at one of the region’s most active contractor/developers, Tyson is well-placed to comment on what it is really like to be building right now. He will also shine a light on the firm’s Square Gardens development in Manchester – which comprises both PBSA and co-living.

Directorate for the Student Experience Awards

Dr Simon Merrywest is the director for the student experience at the University of Manchester. Merrywest will chime in on the biggest challenges facing universities, including how to provide modern teaching accommodation and good quality student housing during a difficult time for the sector.

Andrew McDowell (x)

Andrew McDowell is an associate director at Arup. As the lead for Arup’s MEP Building Services team in the North West and Yorkshire, McDowell is active in promoting the design and development of sustainable buildings and has significant experience in developing carbon reduction strategies for education buildings and estates. He will shine a light on how universities and other education institutions are tackling the carbon question.
