BMW pension fund looks to redevelop Trafford Park site

A 175,000 sq ft industrial unit or a 280,000 sq ft data centre are proposed on the site off Mellors Road at the heart of the industrial estate.

The existing 123,000 sq ft GXO shed, which is asset managed by L&G on behalf of the BMW pension fund, would be demolished to make way for the site’s redevelopment.

Two options are being considered, according to documents submitted to Trafford Council’s planning department.

The first is a 175,000 sq ft industrial unit and the second is a two-level, 280,000 sq ft data centre with 36MW capacity.

L&G plans to apply for hybrid consent that would allow for either scheme to be developed, depending on “input from the market”, according to the documents.

Lichfields is advising the applicant. To learn more by searching for reference number 117712/EIASCR/25 on Trafford Council’s planning portal.
