The Bulkeley Hotel in Beaumaris has been bought by hospitality veterans Yvonne Jackson and Shon Morgans, having been offered to the market at £3.5m.

Built in the 1830s and designed by Joseph Hansom, the hotel overlooks the Menai Strait on one side and fronts Beaumaris High Street on the other.

It had been marketed by Graham + Sibbald, the agent being initially instructed in 2023 to find a buyer at £5m, an asking price later dropped to £3.5m.

The previous owners, Bernard and Carole Rhodes, had acquired the hotel in 1989, but decided to sell up and retire. Graham & Sibbald marketed the asset as having “scope to reposition and develop the business”.

The hotel offers 43 bedrooms, along with a 100-capacity ballroom and function space, along with two restaurants, bar, lounge and coffee shop.

Jackson is the chief executive of the Condor Hotels & Hospitality consultancy business, and a member of the North Wales Tourism Board. In a 30-year career in the industry, she has worked in general manager roles for the Hilton and DeVere groups.

Morgans’ hospitality portfolio also includes two dining destinations in The Goat in Llandudno, and the Aber Park Lodge in Aberystwyth.

Martin Davis, senior director in hotels and leisure at Graham + Sibbald, said: “This deal highlights the continued demand for well-located, high-quality hotel assets with strong trading performance and established reputations, both across North Wales and throughout the UK.”

Condor said that “this dynamic partnership marks an exciting new chapter” adding that “Under the new ownership, the hotel is poised for an exciting transformation that will respect its historical significance whilst elevating its contemporary hospitality standards.

“The partnership brings together entrepreneurial vision with deep local knowledge, creating the ideal combination to unlock the full potential of this iconic venue.”

I’ve been here and its a beautiful building inside and out. It needs a lot of work to get it up to where it should be, hope the new owners are able to do it
