Dr. Beckmann takes 6,000 sq ft in Manchester
The household cleaning products company has signed a 10-year lease on the eighth floor of Britannia Invest’s Bridgewater House.
Dr. Beckmann Group is headquartered in Frankfurt and has previously run its UK operations out of Irlam. The 6,000 sq ft deal at Bridgewater House in Manchester is being billed as the firm’s first UK headquarters.
The company, perhaps best known for its carpet cleaner, will pay £27.50/sq ft for its new office.
Edwards Property Consultants advised Danish investment fund Britannia Invest on the deal. Catella APAM is the asset manager for the building.
Oliver Woodall, director at Edwards, explained that the deal had come following an investment into some of the building’s communal areas.
“Attracting a global name such as the Dr. Beckmann Group to Bridgewater House is testament to the ongoing investment into the property and we are in advanced talks with another potential tenant,” he said.
Adam Handley, senior asset manager at Catella APAM, added: “This letting is a great reflection of the investment made to reposition the building and enhance its appeal to occupiers, and we’re pleased to see that work recognised by such a well-established international business.”
Colliers advised Dr. Beckmann.
Ben Ozon, who is part of Colliers’ national offices team, said: “After an extensive property search, Bridgewater House presented an ideal solution for Dr. Beckmann Group, with an impressive refurbishment scheme providing an abundance of amenity in a highly desirable location.
“It is fantastic to see yet another global occupier selecting Manchester for it’s UK headquarters.”
Bridgewater House is located on Whitworth Street and provides 200,000 sq ft of workspace to the likes of Manchester Metropolitan University and Victoria College of Art and Design.
Some 43,000 sq ft is available. Savills is the joint letting agent on the building.
