Completion for £11m Liverpool Shopping Park expansion

Derwent Estates has wrapped work on an additional 71,000 sq ft at the Merseyside retail destination – just over a year since securing planning permission from the city council.

Stainforth Construction was the main contractor for the £11m project, which involved the building of a series of 3,000 sq ft restaurants, a 20,000 sq ft Tesla car showroom, and an expanded 35,000 sq ft Hollywood Bowl off Edge Lane in Liverpool.

A Costa Coffee drive-thru is the last part of the park to complete.

The scheme is fully let, with Wagamama and Wingstop signing 15-year leases for the final two spaces. The expanded Liverpool Shopping Park had been 90% let before construction began, through work by retained agents McMullen Real Estate and CSP.

There may be more to come from Liverpool Shopping Park as well.

James Maule-Ffinch, asset management director at Derwent Estates, teased: “The continued success of the Park and interest from other operators looking to capitalise in the popularity of this retail and leisure destination has meant that we are considering new plans for further expansion in the not too distant future.”

Derwent Estates manages the shopping park on behalf of owner Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation. The group worked with ATP Planning, architect RGP, and project manager Drees & Sommer to bring the expansion to fruition.

Still no sign of the cinema you promised to replace the one you removed .

I would think with all of this multi million pound infrastructure, that there may be an investment to more than one bus service as it currently stands and give these services concrete timetables as opposed to them what they are now, which is somewhat mythical.

All I’m asking is a return of the number six to help us beleaguered commuters out. Is that too much to ask?

What does ‘ wrapped,’ work mean

By Ben

Hi Ben. It means completed. Best wishes, Dan

Yes,we really need yet another Costa on Edge Lane!

By Anonymous

Impressive, all on site and completed in 12 months, if only further up Edge Lane we could see similar progress on the Littlewoods Studios.

Edge Lane is virtually a no go area most of the day. Traffic nose to tail on both sides. The M62 main connection causes horrendous the full length of Edge Lane, and YET MORE SITES ARE BEING OPENED UP WITHOUT ANY THOUGHT TO ACCESS AND EXIT. Leaving the Range store into Edge Lane is hopeless as when the lights change to green, traffic on Edge lane blocks your exit left or right.

Free car parking is proving a major asset here when you consider what three hours’ parking costs at Liverpool ONE.

Be even better if you had better public transport links , or a taxi rank . Not everyone drives

Loved edge lane retail till they signed a deal with Tesla for 20 year. Ran out of shops apparently because why is there going to be a THIRD Costa in the area while 2 Starbucks near, the intelligence to plan was that of a twigs. Extremely underwhelming with how long we all waiting

By Anonymous

Sad deal was made definitely not what the original owner of the company would have ever wanted, making a deal with someone with the polar opposite values

Super! Disappointing

Good news for Liverpool apart from the Tesla dealership.

By .

Good news overall for Edge lane. Also about time Liverpool was included in the Tesla roadmap. The Manchester site has expanded greatly so it’s about time Liverpool got in on the act

Not a tree in sight.

Shocking that we havent got our cinema back on the site when it was promised

By Elliott james

For those confused as to why there are 3 Costas in the area, simple, there is demand. There is tons of room along Edge Lane for more businesses and residential especially at the city end, meanwhile on Wavertree Rd we have the old Taskers site mostly idle and not doing much, so let’s celebrate what Derwent have done here and encourage other developers onto other available sites.

Yes definately need a better bus service as only the number 7 goes down edge lane every half hour, shocking service.

Great just what we need another Costa coffee
