Work to begin on Everton Way

With the club’s Bramley-Moore Dock stadium itself now handed over, construction will start next week on a feature walkway due to complete before the 2025-26 season.

Preparatory installations will begin from Monday 20 January. The project will see thousands of granite stones laid to cover a large area outside the South Stand, celebrating generations of Evertonians’ births, marriages, anniversaries and loved ones.

These personalised stones will be laid in and around a series of larger stones representing ‘Everton Giants’.

Until completion, fan access to Everton Way will be restricted, although the club said this will not affect access to the South Stand for the venue’s upcoming test events.

The area will be fenced off for safety and supporters will be unable to view Everton Way until the scheme is fully laid and the stadium is open and operational.

Laing O’Rourke officially handed over the stadium in late December.

Looking forward to Seeing This and Hopefully some New Buffet Restaurants around the New Stadium

Great that the stadium is almost ready for use , and the fans have enthusiastically took the opportunity to purchase the stone tributes. I’m interested to see investment along the Dock Rd opposite the stadium and noticed work already started on a large Food and Drink establishment, as well as a small hotel. I expect more to follow and would like to see some residential on some of the spaces like the former Terry’s Timber depot so as to create some daily activity around there in order to create a new neighbourhood.

It will be really interesting to see how the flow of pedestrians/fans will be managed both on the Dock Road and also Great Howard Street which runs parallel to it and which passes the end of both the Titanic Hotel and Stanley Dock Warehouses. Without proper management of vehicle and pedestrian flow I can see that both these roads that are used by a great deal of commercial traffic will become a total nightmare to drive down on match days! I can easily foresee a number of road closures and diversions being put in place and maybe part of the Dock Road will be pedestrianised in the future. The ‘test events’ should give a bit of an idea as to what might happen on full on match days though. The stadium does look amazing though and what a fantastic location with the highly thought of ‘Titanic’ hotel right across the road!

@ Brendan R, the crowd management will be important but I don’t think part of the dock road will need pedestrianising, as that would be costly and affect dock and other traffic for the rest of the week.
All that is needed is for a section of the dock road to be closed for a period before and after the game as the Met Police do at Chelsea games where part of Fulham Broadway is closed. Meanwhile in other sections temporary barriers can be set up to keep pedestrians on the sidewalks.
