Work starts on 90 homes as Wirral Waters momentum builds
Forshaw Construction has begun building phase two of Redbridge Quay, with work expected to conclude in winter 2027.
Forshaw Group and Qualis Developments secured planning consent for the latest residential scheme at Peel’s Wirral Waters in January.
The 90-home development comprises 84 one-bedroom and six three-bedroom apartments across six four-storey blocks.
Plans for the site’s redevelopment were first lodged in early 2025 and featured 64 one-bedroom flats and 14 two-bedroom homes. However, the proposal was revised in the following months to provide more homes overall.
The scheme is located east of Millers Quay, the 500-home, £130m residential development backed by Pension Insurance Corporation and next door to phase one of Redbridge Quay, comprising 30 modular homes.
Lyndon Forshaw, chief executive at Forshaw Group, said: “Starting on site at Redbridge Quay phase two is a great milestone for all of us involved and a strong example of what partnership-led regeneration can achieve.
“Working closely with Peel Waters and Qualis Developments, we’re bringing forward a scheme that combines high-quality design with deliverability and waterfront living – creating homes that are not only well built, but part of a wider, sustainable neighbourhood.”
The commencement of construction of phase two of Redbridge Quay adds to growing momentum at Wirral Waters, the £5bn regeneration initiative focussed on the peninsula’s docklands.
Recent milestones include the approval of plans that could ave the way for 171,000 sq ft of employment space at MEA Park, and consent for a David Lloyd gym and the submission of plans for an Aldi.
James Whittaker, managing director of Peel Waters, said: “This is another big moment for Wirral Waters. Getting spades in the ground for the next phase of Redbridge Quay shows the pace at which this regeneration is now moving.
“We’re not just talking about transformation anymore – we’re delivering it. Across Wirral Waters we’re seeing new homes, jobs, education and leisure all coming forward at once, and that’s what creates a place with real energy and staying power.”

It’s fantastic to see the vision set out in Wirral’s excellent adopted brownfield-first Local Plan becoming a reality.
As the Council prepares the revised Local Plan to meet the Government’s increased housing targets, it must do everything possible to identify additional brownfield opportunities and maximise the potential of existing brownfield allocations through appropriate higher-density development.
Our Green Belt must continue to be protected.
