Hollins puts in for 100 Hazel Grove homes
Two plots totalling more than eight acres near the junction of the A6 and the airport relief road are earmarked for development by the land promoter.
Hollins Strategic Land has lodged two applications for a total of 106 homes on the sites, which are separated by Buxton Road.
The larger of the two sites, six acres north of Buxton Road, is earmarked for 75 homes.
The smaller of the two plots measures 2.4 acres and is located south of Mill Lane. It would accommodate 31 homes under Hollins’s plans.
Both sites are currently designated as Green Belt and both schemes would provide 50% affordable homes and a mix of one- and two-bed flats and two-, three-, and four-bed houses.

Developers won’t be satisfied until every bit of green belt between Stockport and Macclesfield is built on. All they see are £ signs. They have no regard for congestion, pressure on hospitals/dentists/Dr’s Surgeries. Stockport council seems to think it will be a utopia, where everyone occupying these new developments will walk, take buses, or ride a bike and anyone needing to do anything else will have an electric vehicle and everyone will be so healthy, that they’ll never need a Dr. dentist, or hospital.

In the not too distant future there will be not a blade of grass to be found with the number of houses being built. The necessary infrastructure required is all too often insufficient for the needs of area. Increased traffic problems, air pollution and loss of habitat for wildlife. Creating unsustainable welfare gridlocks and need to drastically rethink strategies to benefit the whole of communities.

We need our green belt land, where is the rain supposed to go, where is the wildlife supposed to live? So much for green space is good for mental health. No, instead we build awful box houses with NO real garden back to back on any green space possible, adding lots more pollution to areas , it’s extremely worrying. We have many brown site areas, repurpose those and remember to also add, sewage treatment plants, rubbish tips along with schools/doctors of course this won’t happen…just cramped housing to maximise greedy profits and destroy once beautiful space!

Logical rounding off…. with not a 5 year housing land supply pot to tinkle in, pick your battles and get ’em built. Although 75 on that northern bit is pretty optimistic with the huge amount of water and sewerage infrastructure running underneath it!
