Winsford packaging site given approval for residential

Manchester-based HOW Planning has been granted planning for a new residential development in Winsford, Cheshire.

The outline application was submitted on behalf of landowner Ian Harty in October, who was the former managing director of Richmond Packaging, which ceased trading on the New Road site in February 2008.

Carol Clarke, associate at HOW Planning, said: "The plans for Richmond Packaging will transform what is a redundant site which at present isn't making any positive contribution to the town into a thriving new community. This is the first approval in the Winsford Waterfront regeneration area, it is hoped the early redevelopment of the site for residential use will kick start further new development in the area as part of the on-going regeneration of Winsford."

Cheshire West and Chester Council granted planning for 37 new homes to be built on the site.
