Wain Estates puts 15-acres in Trafford on market

Part of the Carrington Estate, The Meadow could hold around 150 homes.

The Meadow was part of the planning consent at Carrington Village for 320 homes and 668,000 sq ft of employment space. Carrington Village is also approved for 12,917 sq ft of retail and health buildings.

Wain Homes, also part of Wain Group alongside Wain Estates, has begun work on another plot at Carrington Village, building 277 homes.

“Carrington Village will be a vibrant new community with great amenities and great connectivity and this is an exciting opportunity for a high-quality housebuilder to make their mark and be part of this ambitious project,” said Wain Estates development director Jack Brister.

“We are looking forward to working alongside other developers who share our community-focused ethos and desire to create genuine, sustainable places.”

Colliers and JLL are jointly marketing the site.

Carrington Estate is 1,665 acres of brownfield. It is the former site of the Shel petrochemical works. Wain Estates, previously known as Himor, plans to bring 11,500 homes and 8m sq ft of employment space to the estate over the next few decades.

Other development plans on Carrington Estate include Peel NRE’s intention to build 200,000 sq ft of industrial space on 26 acres located west of Carrington and next to the Manchester Ship Canal.

Of course, the suburban dream! Living on a former green field in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by industrial estates.

I’ll stick to living in the city centre thanks, where I can walk to everything I need and don’t need a car.

Re Anonymous: Oh yes how horrible, living in open countryside away from the hussle and bussle of city life. Could not think of anything worse than city centre living!
