McGoff wins approval for 66-bed Wilmslow care home
Cheshire East Council’s northern planning committee unanimously approved the developer’s plans for the nursing, residential, and dementia care facility.
The application was passed with eight votes in favour and two abstentions.
McGoff Group Properties’ proposal seeks to demolish both the builder’s merchant and car wash that sit on an acre off Alderley Road in Wilmslow and build a 66-bed care home in their place.
C Squared Architects is the designer behind the 24/7-operated care home, which will include a café, salon, a garden room, sensory gardens, and outdoor meeting spaces.
The application had been deferred in August, with councillors requesting stronger proof of local need for such a facility.
A second attempt at approval presented an improved case for local need, which Cheshire East councillors agreed with.
The 66-bed home will provide parking for up to 32 cars.
SCP Highways, Colour Green Landscape, HBL Associates, Leigh Ecology, and Cheshire Woodland all worked on the application.

Of interest I wonder what will come of the remaining bit of the site which is taken up by the Travis Perkins outlet and front carpark on Knutsford Road. Love or hate the care home it will look better than a car wash

A shame for Travis Perkins who have been in Wilmslow for decades and provide a valuable service to the local building trade. I am not convinced of the need of yet another care home, what we need is houses for people to actually live in!

I agree Jono but the only houses they want to build in Wilmslow are expensive family home on green belt. In one sense if the care home sleeps 66 then somewhere a number of houses must have been freed
