VIDEO | Northstone’s fresh approach to new-build homes

Peel L&P’s housebuilding arm took Place North West behind the scenes of the 218-home Glisk development in Ellesmere Port, one of several sites the company is developing into modern, future-proofed communities.

Part of the wider Rossfield Park regeneration project, Glisk features homes for sale as well as others for rent under Peel’s recently formed suburban build-to-rent brand Letta.

The properties, a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, are built with several features aimed at increasing their sustainability.

These include triple glazing, smart light switches and waste water heat transfer systems.

It is hoped that integrating these technologies will reduce the financial burden on residents, with the ultimate aspiration being bill-free homes.

The properties are curated in line with Scandinavian design principles, according to Richard O’Brien, design director at Northstone.

“Happy people make happy communities,” he said.

With the first homes nearing completion, Place spoke to O’Brien and Northstone chief executive Phil Wilson about the project and the company’s future plans.

You can see what they said in the video at the top of this article. Can’t see the video? You can watch it on the Place North West YouTube channel.

Shame they still look terrible.

No mention of solar panels, heat pumps, grey water use or electric car charging points, or off street parking/garages for charging cars, no mention of the insulation used to cut heating, why not manufacture the houses in a factory to bring costs down and reduce C02
