Wain Homes secures Tameside go-ahead

The housebuilder can proceed with 175 homes off Huddersfield Road in Mossley, having won reserved matters approval.

Wain Homes had obtained outline consent in July 2024 for the 32-acre site, which sits between Hollins secondary school and the Heyside residential estate.

Although 200+ objections had been made, the site has long been identified as having housing potential , being included in the unitary development plan of 2007, which fed into the sites put forward by Tameside for Greater Manchester’s Places for Everyone joint plan.

Thus, the plans went to committee on 22 July recommended for approval. There will be 26 affordable homes, 18 of them three-bed and eight four-bed. The market-sale housing breaks downs as 54 three-beds, 61 four-beds, and 34 five-beds.

Wain Homes’ team included Emery Planning and MCK Associates. The plans can be seen on Tameside’s planning portal, reference 26/00004/REM.
