UCLan to help develop small wind turbine market
The University of Central Lancashire has been awarded nearly £1.1m from the European Regional Development Fund to establish a project that will increase the uptake of small wind turbine technologies by SMEs.
The project will support manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, installers, service providers and end-users of wind turbines in the wind energy sector in the North West.
UCLan will also work with local authorities and government departments to promote small wind turbine technologies.
David Malpass, director of the European programme at the North West Development Agency, which manages ERDF, said: "By developing a world-class, high-tech small wind energy technologies sector within the North West region, the project at UCLan will raise awareness and interest from stakeholders at a national level. This will further boost the region's excellent profile for wind energy technologies, increase investment within the sector, leading to more jobs and positive economic impact."
