Torus partners with Mulbury on £69m scheme

The North West housebuilders have joined together to develop a £69m, 400-home project in Crewe.

The site already has outline planning consent secured by an undisclosed land promoter, and Torus with Mulbury intend to submit a reserved matters application in spring 2020.

The 400-home development Leighton, Crewe, is Torus’ largest single investment to date, according to the company.

The Flowers Lane site is part of a £1bn investment programme between Torus and merged housing association Liverpool Mutual Homes. Torus Group, which includes housing providers Helena Partnerships and Golden Gates Housing, merged with Liverpool Mutual Homes in 2018 to create one of the North’s largest housing organisations.

Chris Bowen, managing director of Torus Developments, said: “The sheer scale of this development and investment clearly shows our commitment to building high quality affordable housing that meets local need.

“Our ambitious plans for Flowers Lane underline Torus’ ambition to deliver high quality homes in crucial regeneration areas, as part of our fundamental commitment to tackle the region’s housing crisis.”

Martin Bury, director of Mulbury Homes, added: “This will be the single largest site we’ve delivered to date in terms of housing numbers, and is part of our plans to help create 3,000 new homes across the North West over the next five years.”
