Tameside permits 64,000 sq ft industrial
MAC Roofing & Contracting can now progress with its plans to build a two-storey facility off Globe Lane in Dukinfield.
Tameside Council approved the application at a meeting on Wednesday, giving the roof-installing specialist the go-ahead for the building of the industrial unit on the two-acre plot.
Under the plans designed by Architectural Emporium, the two-storey building will provide 64,400 sq ft of internal floorspace.
On the ground floor, there will be 32,800 sq ft of factory and paint shop space, while the first floor will provide a combined total of 31,600 sq ft of offices and storage room.
In terms of sustainability, roof lights and solar panels will be installed, as well as wildflowers in order to increase biodiversity.
There will be 33 parking spaces provided, including two disabled and two HGV loading bays, as well as 10 cycle spaces.
Once part of the grounds of Dukinfield Old Hall Chapel, the two-acre site has since been home to a school, a manufacturing facility, and a car park. The land is now vacant.
The project team includes Waterco, Tyrer Ecological Consultants, AMNI Transportation, Survey & Engineering Projects, Holophane Europe, and Appletons.
At the same meeting, Tameside Council also approved its own plans to regenerate Ashton town centre with the transformation of its Market Square to deliver a modern facility.
