Sneak peek of £33m Bury Market flex hall
With Casewells lined up to open this autumn, the local authority has released CGIs hinting at what the 13,000 sq ft food and entertainment venue will look like.
Casewells is part of Bury Council’s £33m revamp of the beloved Bury Market off Angouleme Way in the town centre. It is currently being built by main contractor VINCI Construction.
When complete, Casewells will boast 13 stalls, a performance space, and a bar.

Midlands Events will operate the venue. The company, which is headquartered in Staffordshire, also operates Queen’s Market in Rhyl.
Midlands Events director Andrew Burnett noted that there has been considerable interest in Casewells thus far.
“The response from prospective food traders has been fantastic, giving us great confidence that the range and quality of food on offer when we open will be second to none,” he said.

“Combined with the exciting programme of live entertainment and events we have planned, we are confident Casewells will become a destination for people of all ages.”
Cllr Charlotte Morris, Bury Counci’s cabinet member for regeneration and growth, said: “Casewells reflects the approach we’re taking across the borough.
“We’re not simply delivering new buildings,” she continued. “We’re creating places that people use, enjoy and feel connected to.”
In addition to the flex hall, the market upgrade programme includes improving the public spaces around the venue and installing a oversailing canopy to enhance the outdoor market.
The Bury Market project has seen its budget grow from £25m to £33m since it was awarded £20m from the government’s Levelling Up Fund in 2021. The additional £13m is coming from the council’s own capital programme.
Bury Market’s refresh was designed by Just H Architects, with Gillespies leading on the public realm aspects of the project.
