Senior living scheme lined up for Blackburn

Developer Urban Village has continued its move into healthcare, filing proposals for an 88-bed home by the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

Once completed, the care home will be let to Bracebridge Care Group for a minimum of 25 years.

Urban Village Healthcare is looking to develop the project at Eleanor Street. The four-storey property will have external terraces on the northern corner of the building, with views over the waterway to the town centre beyond.

Communal facilities at the scheme will include a lounge, hairdressers and a gym, with associated parking and gardens.

Nick Sellman, chief executive of Birmingham-based Urban Village Group, said: “Our development at Blackburn forms part of our mission to improve senior living provision in this country and will be a fantastic facility for families in the region.

“With old age, the level of disability and dependency increases rapidly and impacts significantly on the demand for care services, with around 400,000 older people in care homes in the UK. Urban Village Healthcare is determined to help meet this demand.”

Urban Village Group is an investor and developer working in mainstream residential, PRS and student living.
