Legat Owen instructed as uni changes tack
With a planned conversion to special educational needs provision denied last year, the University of Chester has asked the agent to find a buyer for 67 Liverpool Road, a 6,000 sq ft Victorian property.
The property, around a mile from Chester city centre, comes with parking for 16 cars and is described in the particulars as suitable for a number of uses, including offices, a small hotel, or medi-spa, subject to planning.
Also known as the Elgan Edwards Building, the asset was formerly used as offices as part of the University of Chester’s law school. Coming as part of the package and included in the overall square footage of 5,955 sq ft, is a separate two-storey coach house and a store building.
As listed on Rightmove, the guide price is £850,000.
Previously, a plan had been put together for Maple Grove School, a Chester school for autistic children, to take the site on.
Adviser Alder King had submitted plans for the conversion of the building for state-funded SEN provision last year, a project requiring prior approval that was rejected in autumn by Cheshire West & Chester Council on transport & highways grounds.
The building is offered freehold, with offers invited by Wednesday 21 May.
