Seddon prepares plans for 24 acres in Romiley
Around 250 homes could be built at Hyde Bank Meadows, under proposals being worked up by the housebuilder.
Seddon Homes is working with Pinncale Planning and landscape architect Randall Thorp to prepare a planning application for a residential community on a 24-acre plot of land in Romiley, Stockport.
The scheme would amount to a southern extension of Romiley, which is located in the east of Stockport borough. The site has been identified as a draft allocation with Stockport’s emerging local plan.
The development would be accessed from Gotherage Lane and would feature a mix of small dwellings and larger family homes, according to planning documents submitted to Stockport Council.
In addition, Seddon’s outline proposals make provision for new grass football pitches at Tangshutts Fields, as well as new play facilities.

Keep the applications in Stockport going! Just desserts for the political point scoring

By the time all these housing developers have finished concreting over vast areas of beautiful open countryside and greenbelt countryside in England, there will no longer be any places of real beauty for us to visit. We will all be forced to travel abroad to enjoy beautiful surroundings.

My prediction. Stockport will turn this down and then spend another £100k on losing the appeal. Will the LibDem administration never learn that they need a local plan?

Please don’t allow this beautiful land to be built on.

Local plans don’t work anymore. Places with local plans in place are having the same issues – green belt being re-designated ‘grey belt’ due to Labour changing the planning laws and then hugely expanding the target amount of houses to be built. Stockport has been consistently under-funded by successive governments, as it’s viewed as a ‘rich’ borough and can’t support this level of population increase. Roads are clogged, Dr’s and Dentists over subscribed and Stepping Hill Hospital is operating beyond capacity. The greedy house builders are taking advantage to make profits with scant regard for local services and infrastructure.

Assuming this proposal takes place has anyone considered the effect this will have on the locality. Insufficient school places, increased traffic congestion, (Romiley and Marple must be one of the worse places for traffic) , Health care in the area, already struggling. No rail link, despite promises, to Stockport. I doubt Seddon Homes have considered the disadvantages for potential residents.

This absolutely shouldn’t go ahead our little Gotherage Lane couldn’t cope with all the traffic and Romiley certainly can’t cope with any extra traffic. It will absolutely ruin the Cherry Tree Estate and all the surrounding woodland & fields & all the amazing wildlife around Tangshutt Community Fields.
This would be devastating for our area & community.

Logically there is no good infrastructure. One small road out of Cherry Tree. No schools no doctors. More cars on road. It bad enough with traffic now
It is pure greed.. Check if there’s a covenant on the football grounds. I think this was done under Bredbury and Romiley UDC before 1974

Guys it’s in Stockport, it’s getting built whether you like it or not. You voted for this, so get used it.

Why do all house builders keep using our green belts…. All that will be left is building blocks… how about looking at the surrounding infrastructure as well… perhaps this grassland is a flood plain?… what is the point in building more homes when they can’t even fill the other empty housing estates as people can’t afford to get on the ladder…. We really don’t need anymore homes in Stockport… the rents are so high that people just can’t get mortgages anymore, so what is the actual point in disturbing Greenland & all the surrounding nature.. you’re all money makers, not thinking about anything else.

Building on this land would be a travesty. Our green space is being eroded. Not to mention the infrastructure required to manage this development. Traffic is extremely busy in Romiley and this will make it much worse with n increase of approx 250- 500 cars passing through the village, there is already plans in gee cross for 450 homes so traffic will be at a standstill. Then there is the school’s, and gps. This scheme is so unrealistic in such a small area. New homes have been built on werneth road which are still empty and a further 28 homes built on the cricket fields. And finally what about the wildlife, it seems no consideration has been given in that area.
I totally vehemently oppose this scheme.

Potentially upto 1,000 extra people without additional doctors, schools, dentists etc. Traffic is always a nightmare already, tell you what lets add another 500 cars 🤔

Stockport Lib Dems councillors, you know you shouldn’t have pulled out of the Greater Manchester planning framework. Playing politics by the Lib Dems has put the Greenbelt in the Borough at risk, they should hold their head in shame.
