Seddon cracks on with £22m Radcliffe resi

The former Riverside High School site off School Street will be redeveloped into a mix of 90 affordable and open market properties by Hive Homes.

Seddon Housing Partnerships has been appointed by Hive Homes to deliver the Radcliffe project, which has a gross development value of £22m.

The School Street scheme will bring a long dormant, disused piece of land back into use. Of the 90 three- and four-bed family homes, 22 will be affordable.

The project is the third time Seddon has built out a scheme for Hive Homes. Work on the School Street project is expected to complete in July 2027.

Peter Jackson, managing director at Seddon, said: “It’s encouraging to see work beginning at School Street and Seddon is proud to be playing a role in the future of this important site. We’re sure many local residents will have fond memories of the school, and by bringing this site back to life, people will get to make many more.

“This is the third time we’ve worked alongside Hive Homes, bringing more affordable high quality family homes to sites across the North West. We have found them to be an incredible partner with the community at their heart.”

Ed Milner, managing director at Hive Homes, said: “We are delighted to be working with Seddon again, this being our fourth development scheme and third with them.

“I’m confident that they will continue to deliver a high-quality product to us, on time and within budget enabling us to bring forward much needed new housing in Radcliffe under a range of tenures.”

The Section 106 agreement signed by Hive Homes will allocate nearly £250,000 for improvements to local amenities including Cams Lane Athletics Track, Close Park football facilities, Outwood football facilities, Radcliffe Cemetery, and Radcliffe town centre pocket park.
