Russells wins £800k Trafford Park contract

Freight forwarding firm AKW Group has picked Russells Construction to refurbish a 78,000 sq ft contract packing unit.

The warehouse is part of the 500,000 sq ft World Freight Centre operated by AKW; one of three sites it has within Trafford Park, employing 220 staff.

Tony Worthington, founder and chairman of AKW, said: "We are one of the fastest growing companies in the North West and, in order to support that expansion, we are in need of greater capacity for our storage and packaging operations. The Trafford Park warehouse is at the heart of our strategic operations and it is therefore vitally important for us to have a state-of-the-art facility enabling us to offer improved services to our customers."

Russells Construction, run by Andrew Russell, is based on Clarence Avenue in Trafford Park.
