RAC House in Trafford hits market
Fronting the Bridgewater Canal, the nearly five-acre site in Stretford currently holds a 56,000 sq ft office building – and sits next to a four-acre plot that is also on the market.
Car insurance provider RAC has recruited CBRE to market the property after choosing to relocate its call centre operations.
Located off Thomas Street and close to the A56, the site is situated in a mixed-use area within walking distance of Old Trafford Football Ground and Old Trafford Cricket Ground. The land is allocated for employment within the Trafford Unitary Development Plan.
Kieran McLaughlin, senior director at CBRE, said: “It is rare that a development opportunity of this scale with canal frontage becomes available in this area and could suit a wide range of potential uses in a rapidly improving market.”
Those interested in the RAC site may be intrigued by its neighbour. Adjacent to the property is a 3.5-acre plot owned by the National Grid. BNP Paribas is marketing the site on behalf of the utility company and has noted that it would be suitable for redevelopment into residential or commercial – pending planning permission, of course.
We don’t want more flats.
