Preston to greenlight 19-storey apartment scheme

Portergate’s proposals to deliver 120 flats on the corner of Moor Lane and Walker Street are recommended for approval at the city council’s planning committee meeting next Thursday.

Designed by Buttress, the scheme would see the creation of a part-five, part 19-storey apartment block.

Known as Moor House, the building would feature 16 one- and 104 two-bedroom homes for private rent.

Plans also include a roof terrace to be used as shared amenity space, as well as a 540 sq ft ground-floor communal lounge.

There would be no car parking spaces provided, however residents would have access to 120 cycle spaces.

Located within Preston’s Adelphi Quarter, the complex would sit in a prominent position opposite the University of Central Lancashire’s newly constructed student centre.

Currently vacant, the site was previously home to a gas training centre, which was demolished in 2017.

Portergate, which also delivered the £18m Friargate Court student scheme in the city, submitted the plans for the Moor Lane project in February.

Martin Planning is the scheme’s planning consultant. Ridge and Partners is the transport consultant. The Environment Partnership is the environmental consultant.
