Powerhouse makes Haydock pitch
Plans have been lodged to demolish a dated unit at the Boston Park industrial estate in Haydock, replacing it with a fresh 11,500 sq ft building.
Central Design Consultants and Montagu Evans are working with the applicant, listed as Powerhouse Propco II, care of Mourant Governance Services (Jersey).
The shed as it stands is a retail warehouse at Unit 3 Pye Close in Boston Park, most recently occupied by M6 Carpets. The primary access is from Wilcock Road.
Other occupiers in an area offering easy access to the M6 and the A580 East Lancs Road include Sainsbury’s, Movianto, Booker, and Costco.
CDC described the asset in its design & access statement as “currently an outdated and unattractive former industrial retail unit, which has attracted little interest since the last occupier vacated due to limited eave height not suiting current market requirements”. The unit proposed would have a minimum internal height of 8m.
A consent is sought covering light industrial, distribution or trade counter uses. Minor tweaks are proposed to the car parking provision, with 12 cycle spaces to be added in.
Documents relating to the proposal can be seen on St Helens Council’s planning portal, reference P/2026/0190/FUL.

When is enough enough? When will these developers put money into Haydock itself. Help the kids football and Rugby teams and donate to the community center, for example. Stop hurting residents by bringing more and more artics in and have no where to park them.

Haydock is turning into one big warehouse site. The roads can’t cope a the moment never mind when 400 new houses built off the East Lancs Road and more and more warehouses being built. The Labour Council obviously don’t care about Haydock residents.
