Portuguese padel club to take chunk of Reddish industrial park
Major Padel Club is in talks to occupy more than 40,000 sq ft at Vauxhall Trading Estate off Greg Street.
The Portuguese padel operator is looking to franchise its model in the UK. The firm runs Padel Athletic Club in Porto, a large venue owned by Manchester United footballer Diego Dalot.
In Reddish, MPC is seeking to amend the terms of the planning conditions attached to Vauxhall Trading Estate, which completed in 2024, to allow the club to operate there. At present, the permission only allows for industrial uses on the site.
However, a three-year marketing campaign has only resulted in three deals. A tweak to the planning consent to allow MPC to open at the industrial complex would see a large chunk of the scheme let.
The venue would feature nine full size indoor courts and two singles courts.
A gym, a cafeteria, bar and lounge area as well as a Pilates studio and changing facilities also feature within the plans. HK Planning is advising MPC on the plans.

Padel, a hybrid between squash and tennis, is growing in popularity in the UK with a flurry of applications for clubs across the country.
There is a problem, nationally, with leisure facilities like this being located in places which aren’t easily accessed without a car and taking crucial employment land which might be needed longer term even if it isn’t needed now.

A very good investment and for locals and others for exercise. Also potentially as a meeting hub for directors from other businesses, who could bring more businesses to Reddish.
