Plans lodged for 117 Crewe apartments

Packwood Ventures wants to redevelop derelict commercial buildings on the corner of Edelston Road and High Street into apartments and has submitted plans for the project to Cheshire East Council.

The development, designed by architect Urban View, will see parts of Breedon House and Regency Court retained and converted into flats, while a five-storey new-build element will also be constructed.

Overall, the project would feature 117 apartments and around 9,500 sq ft of ground floor commercial space. The scheme would be developed using modern methods of construction.

Mialex is advising on planning. Director Tim Cropper explained how the scheme came about.

“Since acquiring the site last year, the team have engaged positively with representatives of Cheshire East Council, Crewe Town Council, and Connor Naismith MP,” he said.

“Our intention is to deliver a landmark development that will contribute in a positive manner to the Southern Gateway Development Area, which represents a key entrance point into Crewe town centre.”

Cropper added: “Aside from providing new living opportunities within a highly sustainable location, the new development will support local businesses and services, therefore making an important contribution towards the regeneration of Crewe for the benefit of the local community.”

This is exactly what Crewe needs! It’s about time some life was injected into the vacant shops on High Street.
