Persimmon seeks community thoughts on 1,000 homes in Lancaster

A 277-acre site east of the city centre is earmarked for redevelopment by the housebuilder.

Place North West reported in April that Persimmon was drawing up plans for around 960 homes just outside Lancaster between the M6 and Caton Road.

Now, the housebuilder is inviting feedback from the local community on its plans, which feature “affordable housing provision, extensive green space, community facilities, and a new primary school”.

A spokesperson for Persimmon said: “We are pleased to be bringing forward proposals for much-needed new homes and community facilities at this strategic location in East Lancaster.

“Persimmon are proud of our record of building high-quality homes with excellent design that people love to live in. We look forward to hearing from and meeting local residents so they can help us shape the future of the new neighbourhood as we develop our plans for the site.”

NJL Consulting is advising Persimmon on its plans.

The submission of a hybrid planning application is expected later this year. Consent for the majority of the homes would be sought in outline. Persimmon will ask for full permission for the first phase, which comprises 200 homes.

Residents can have their say online via consultwithyou.co.uk/persimmon/east-lancaster or in person at one of two consultation events:
