Developer Armstone has put forward proposals to build a PRS apartment block on Stockport Road, Manchester, designed by Leach Rhodes Walker.
The scheme is planned for a site along the A6 near Victoria Baths and along from the Apollo; it is currently home to a derelict warehouse.
The proposals are for a mix of one and two-bed apartments along with seven three-bed townhouses at ground floor level. There will be 57 two-beds, and 32 one-bed flats, and 57 car parking and 102 cycle parking spaces are proposed.
The brick-clad block reaches seven storeys at its highest point. Pre-applications between the architect and Manchester City Council took place last summer, which led to the incorporation of the townhouses, which will face Stockport Road.
In an application submitted to the council, planner Avison Young said: “The development will dramatically improve the street scene exhibited on Stockport Road through the replacement of a derelict site with a contemporary design which seeks to integrate with its surrounding environment; whilst presenting an innovative and contemporary design which will draw interest. The proposed use of the site will also introduce activity and natural surveillance into the locality.”
