Ian Simpson tops 2008 residential league

Manchester-based Ian Simpson Architects won £401m of residential project work last year, topping the national Glenigan Constructing Insight league table for the sector.

Other firms with a North West presence also featured in the top five. PRP, headquartered in London with a Manchester office in St Peters Square, took on 29 residential projects with a combined value of £311m. SMC, part of Archial Group, has offices in Old Hall Street, Liverpool and Lowry House, Manchester city centre, and recorded £273m of new residential work.

Shed KM, the Liverpool-based practice closely associated with Urban Splash, was fifth in the table with £180m. London-based Stock Woolstencroft was fourth with £228m.
