Muller primed for Barnoldswick consent after resolving flood concerns
Pendle Council is recommending plans for 84 homes on the former Fernbank Mill site for approval after the developer reduced the number of homes by 14 to mitigate flood risk.
Muller Property’s Barnoldswick development has gone through various iterations during the planning process. It started out life as a 101-home scheme before being reduced to 98 and now 84 units.
The scheme was recommended for approval by Pendle Council last November but was deferred by the committee so that concerns about flooding could be addressed.
Pendle Council has been recommended to approve the Barrie Newcombe Associates-designed scheme to redevelop 5.5 acres of brownfield off Fernbank Avenue.
A range of house types are proposed, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, townhouses, semi-detached, and detached properties.
The plot used to house the 150,000 sq ft Fairbank Mill, which dated back to 1915, when it opened for weaving.
Weaving and production ceased in 1980. The mill was demolished in 2011, leaving the site unoccupied and cleared.
The development will feature four affordable homes, in line with the policies in Pendle’s local plan. PWA Planning is advising Muller.
