Bringing together those shaping the built environment of the North West, Yorkshire, and North East; the North of England at MIPIM delegation is due to be the largest yet with an agenda as ambitious as the region it represents.

That was the crux of Place North’s MIPIM Update on 15 September, which saw 100 property professionals and local authority representatives gather at TLT’s offices at Eden in Salford. You can see photos from the event in the gallery at the bottom of this article.

While enjoying the law firm’s stunning views of Manchester, attendees were briefed on what they can expect at next year’s event in Cannes, namely:

  • The UK Regions Lunch, delivered by Place to provide an engaging networking opportunity showcasing the strength of the UK’s national investment offer
  • The return of the North of England Suite, which will serve as a hub for those doing work in the North with opportunities for hosting private networking events, masterclasses, workshops, and roundtables
  • An expanded MIPIM footprint, with the convention’s organiser RX creating the Tech and AI Hub at Gray d’Albion Hotel, the Luxury Living and Branded Residences hub at JW Marriott Beach, and Hospitality Suites at the Majestic Hotel and Carlton Hotel
  • A Resilience Stage at MIPIM to help move conversations along from decarbonisation to how communities and the industry are handling climate and geopolitical risk
  • A Data Centres Summit on the Thursday morning
  • Greater focus on defence in the MIPIM programme
  • Housing Matters moving to Tuesday to be part of the core MIPIM programme

Ready to take its place on the global stage will be Oldham, with director of growth James Kington addressing the gathering on Tuesday.

“Our pitch at MIPIM, which we’re really excited to deliver, will be about a massive step change for Oldham and why Oldham is the best place to invest and a really transformative set of projects which will see Oldham transformed into one of the best places to live,” he said.

Those projects include the work being done with Muse on the town centre, Northern Roots urban farm, Sports Town, and the refurbishment of Oldham’s historic buildings.

A focus on access

For those looking to make the most of MIPIM, access is key. To that end, Place has created a new delegation tier: Exec Partner.

Exec Partners will have greater access to private MIPIM events both in the UK and in Cannes. This is a tier for businesses that know what they want at MIPIM and are bringing the people to deliver it.

Krol Corlett Group is one of those companies. The Liverpool-headquartered business is solutions-focussed, providing construction, engineering, fire safety, and advisory services to those looking to deliver quality projects within the education, heritage, healthcare, leisure, residential, commercial, industrial, and retail sectors.

With the addition of Krol Corlett, the North of England Delegation now boasts more than 30 partners with more due to be announced in the near future.

MIPIM will see more than 20,000 property professionals gather in Cannes for four days starting on 16 March 2027. Of those attending MIPIM, 80% are executive level or above, meaning the room is filled with actual decisionmakers. The event also has a strong representation from some of the world’s largest financial firms with 5,000 investors attending, including representatives from BlackRock, Invesco, and PGIM.
