Miller progresses 67-home plan in Wigan
The housebuilder has recently completed the purchase of land for the new development – Eston View, which is north of Bryn Green Avenue in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
Full planning consent was issued by Wigan Council’s planning committee on 12 January 2022.
The five-acre site will comprise sustainable three- and four-bedroom homes, 10% of these will be affordable. It will sit south of Bellway Homes’ recently developed site, The Avenue.
Local shops, nearby Landgate School, and close access to the M6 all ensure the Eston View is well-connected. Wigan town centre is just under four miles from the site.
Miller Homes said that work on the project will start imminently, with the sales centre expected to open in summer and show homes ready to view in the autumn.
STEN Architecture designed the 67-home site. WSP is the planning consultant. The project team also includes Eddisons, Grasscroft Development Solutions and Wardell Armstrong.
Jonathan Steggles, land director for Miller Homes, explained what the new community will bring to the town.
“Wigan is an aspirational and popular area and we’re delighted to be bringing some new high quality and sustainable homes to the town,” he said.
“By the time the development is complete, it will bring 67 new family homes to the town, creating jobs and improving livelihood in the process.”
Miller Homes is active throughout the region with projects including 224 homes in Northenden and 287 houses in Widnes.
