Krol Corlett to build £6.1m Liverpool children’s hospice
Work will start this month on Zoe’s Place’s new home at Hayman’s Green in West Derby, which will feature a refurbished 4,500 sq ft villa with a 6,700 sq ft extension.
When it opens, Zoe’s Place will be renamed Little Lights Baby Hospice. The centre was the subject of a large-scale fundraising effort, which saw more than 60,000 organisations and individuals band together to raise more than £6.5m.
Krol Corlett Construction will lead on the construction of the £6.1m hospice, which will provide a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room, eight specialist bedrooms, soft play areas, and two dedicated bereavement-focussed Snowdrop Suites for children with life-threatening conditions and their families.
Little Lights Baby Hospice will be able to provide care for eight children at any given time, double the charity’s current capacity.
Mersey Design Group drew up the plans for the new centre, with support from BCA Landscape, Sutcliffe, and PSA. The project team also includes Greyside Planning, Liath Heritage, and Prime Transport Planning.
Daniel Tebay, managing director of Krol Corlett, said the company was “incredibly proud” to be working on the hospice.
“This is a project that means so much to the city and to the families who rely on the vital care and support the hospice provides,” Tebay said.
“With our head office based in Liverpool, it’s especially important to us that we play our part in creating a facility that will serve the community for generations to come.”
Zoe’s Place project manager Barry Kushner added: “It was incredibly important to us that we partnered with a local company that truly understands our city and the community we serve.
“From the outset, their commitment to the project and genuine enthusiasm have been clear, and that passion is matched by their expertise and track record in delivering high-quality healthcare facilities,” he continued.
“This hospice means everything to the children and families we support, and it was crucial that we appointed a contractor who understands both the technical demands and the emotional significance of this build. We truly feel the project is in safe hands and look forward to working closely together to bring this incredible new facility to life.”
The contractor is also raising funds for the hospice as it sends a team to run the Liverpool Half Marathon later this month. You can contribute to the effort by going to the company’s Just Giving page.

A great example of Liverpool coming together when the chips were down. Well done to all the team that has helped, too.

Looks lovely but a little concerned about the ingress and egress onto Eaton road north. Particularly that corner.
