K2 recruiting after strong year

Liverpool-based K2 Architects says turnover leapt from £123,000 in 2011 to £318,000 in the year to 30 April 2012.

Mark Davies, director, said: "The last year has been a great success for K2. We have taken on more work than ever and seen growth in all major sectors, including industrial, commercial, leisure, residential and retail."

The company produced a net profit of £76,200 in 2011 and expects to record a net profit of £161,000, subject to final audit.

During the past year, Davies and business partner Kevin Horton, both ex-BDP, worked on developments with a combined value of £85m.

The pair are now looking to recruit additional staff and compete for larger contracts in 2012.

Davies added: "We now have the support of five full-time employees, so our time can be focused on pursuing bigger contracts. K2's completed buildings demonstrate the credentials we have to deliver on a large scale while seeing a completed build enables potential clients to envisage how our designs for a functional and great looking building will work for them."

K2 Architects' recent work includes the £5m watersports centre in Colwyn Bay which K2 won in a design competition. The firm also transformed 73,000 sq ft of industrial space into a manufacturing facility for C-TEC in Wigan and designed stores at Liverpool One and Westfield Stratford City.

K2 was formed in 2007.
