JD Sports’ 63,000 sq ft Bury hub in line to pass planning test

The second part of the fashion retailer’s plans to overhaul its head office are due to take a step forward next week.

With consent for a series of highway works, road infrastructure, and a creche for the Pilsworth Road site already secured, JD Sports is hopeful Bury Council will approve plans for a 62,900 sq ft hub building next week.

The three-storey building will include offices, a lecture theatre, meeting suites, a gym, a café, and a dining area.

Outside, the scheme includes a multi-sports pitch and a padel court, as well as a picnic area with wheelchair-accessible tables.

The designs also include 64 car parking spaces – 44 for workers and 20 for visitors. Of the 64 car parking spaces, seven are accessible and 17 are for electric vehicles.

AEW Architects designed the hub for JD Sports, with CW Studio leading on landscape and Space Invader on interiors. Enabl is the planner.

The project team also includes air quality consultant Redmore Environmental, remediation specialist GroundTech Consulting, and transport consultant Eddisons. Urban Green is the ecologist and BNG expert. Kennedy Redford is the energy strategist. Cundall is leading on MEP, fire engineering, acoustics, and sustainability. Walker Sime is the quantity surveyor for the scheme. Avid Property Consultants is the project manager.

Caddick Construction is lined up to build the facility.
