The TSK Spinathon: John O’Groats to Land’s End in 24hrs
This month, the entire TSK team will be cycling through the night in an attempt to travel the distance from John O’Groats to Land’s End within just 24 hours.
We’re taking on this challenge in honour of our friend and colleague, David Cox, who passed away suddenly following a heart attack whilst recuperating from a motorcycle accident.
‘Work hard, play hard’ was David’s approach, outside of work sport played a big role in his life and he got a team to take part in several cycling events.
So we thought, what better way to remember him than holding our very own cycling challenge as part of our aim to raise £25,000 for the David Cox Initiative in support of the British Heart Foundation!
What is the David Cox Initiative?
We lost David back in 2019, and with the COVID pandemic following shortly after this devastating blow, our plans to create an event in his honour were put on hold. We’re aiming to make it right and honour his memory by raising £25k for the British Heart Foundation, between August 23 and July 24.
Gearing up for the big day
The Spinathon will be hosted at the TSK Manchester office on the 28th of February, starting at 12 pm, and continuing through the night until we reach the finish line at 12 pm the next day.
As with all big sporting events, you will be able to catch the 24-hour Spinathon live online and follow the team’s process as they make headway on this challenging journey.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll share more information about how you can turn on, tune in and donate on our LinkedIn page—so stay tuned for updates!
Make a donation
We’re aiming high, as this is one of the biggest events we’ve held as part of the David Cox Initiative so far. Our fundraising target is £6,273, the equivalent of the distance we aim to cover within the 24 hours.
Every contribution, no matter how big or small, is deeply appreciated. We are so grateful to everyone who shows their support, and we know how proud David would be of the team’s dedication to take on this challenge for such a fantastic cause.
Our partnership with the British Heart Foundation
We’ve teamed up with the British Heart Foundation as one of their fundraising partners this year to continue our mission for the David Cox Initiative. We’ll be holding more events throughout the year to help raise money for the life-changing research they do.
The Spinathon event also aligns with the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Heart Month’ campaign, which asks people to “Go Red for Heart Month” in February. So, we’re encouraging all our cyclists to wear red on the big day!
A boost from our CEO
We caught up with TSK CEO Iain Holden about the event… “David was a keen cyclist and regularly participated in cycling events such as Manchester-Blackpool and of course, Ironman. So what better way to remember him than hold our very own cycling challenge? It’s going to be a brilliant day, and I’m looking forward to seeing so many of our team members getting involved. Good luck team and thank you to everyone who has donated so far!”
