Chorley approves 75 Brinscall homes
Rowland Homes has been given planning permission to redevelop the seven-acre James Donaldson Timber site off Railway Road.
Chorley Council’s planning committee discussed the 75-home proposal at a meeting earlier this week. A ward councillor said she was concerned about the site’s proposed change of use from employment to residential and suggested the plot should be safeguarded for jobs.
A vote to defer the application so that a site visit could be conducted was defeated before a vote to approve the proposals in line with officer recommendation was passed seven votes to three with one abstention.
James Donaldson Timber is in the process of relocating to a 110,000 sq ft unit at Botany Bay, which opens up its Railway Road site for redevelopment.
Rowland submitted plans for a mix of two-, three-, and four-bed detached and semi-detached homes to Chorley Council last year.
The 14 buildings that currently occupy the site would be demolished to pave the way for the project.
