Icon appoints commercial director

Andy Stephenson has joined the leadership team at the Alderley Park-based fit-out contractor.

Stephenson joined Icon Projects from CDS Group where he was a framework manager. Prior to CDS Group, he also worked at WYG Group, Mitie Property Services, Interserve, and Archeson Construction. He got his start in the built environment as a quantity surveyor, later taking roles that included more commercial management.

His focus at Icon is to create a strategy for organic growth and build up the company’s client base. This includes helping promote Icon’s expertise in working within the higher education, laboratory, office, and retail sectors.

“Having known Andy professionally for many years, I knew he was a perfect fit for the Icon team culture,” said Craig Shenton, director at Icon.

“We recognise that our industry is all about people and strength of relationships both upstream and downstream,” Shenton continued.

“Andy offers our customers and our teams incredible expertise and support, and he does it with a smile on his face too. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and I have always admired that about Andy.”

Shenton continued: “His passion and care for what he does, and who he does it with, fits perfectly with our core values. A naturally gifted communicator and organiser, with exemplary integrity, Andy was the perfect candidate for this important position in the senior leadership team.”

For his part, Stephenson said that joining Icon was a “simple decision”.

He continued: “The team culture and core values aligned perfectly with my ideals. Once the opportunity presented itself, I knew that this would be a challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable journey for me.

“Being part of this innovative, forward-thinking team gives me all the motivation I need to lead from the front.”

Icon has offices in Birmingham and London, in addition to its base in Cheshire. Recent projects include Flokk in Manchester, Magnet Chester, and Wickes Widnes.
