Housing plans in for Ashton industrial site
HOW Planning has submitted an outline application for 51 affordable homes on behalf of Dovetail Land & Development and Rock Asset Management on brownfield land in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The former employment site in Ryecroft Street has been vacant for some time and is bordered by existing residential accommodation.
The application for a mix of apartments and houses has been submitted to Tameside Council.
If the development is approved it will be built by New Charter Housing Association.
Rhian Harris, planner at HOW, said: "Housing supply is high on the agenda with all councils and Tameside is no exception. We have worked closely with our clients and New Charter Housing Association to ensure the plans for the scheme will not only create much needed new housing, but homes which are suited to the needs of the local area."
The proposed development is located on Ryecroft Street in Ashton and will include a 51 residential units in a mix of apartments and new houses.
It’s all well and good building new homes but for me, demolishing industrial sites is worrying. Where do start up businesses go. No good building homes if people can’t afford to buy them.
