Historic job for GL Hearn in Chester
Surveyor GL Hearn has been appointed to advise asset manager Lee Baron and landlord F&C REIT on repairs to Grade 1-listed Three Old Arches on Chester's Rows.
The stone-fronted building on Bridge Street is thought to be one of oldest remaining shop fronts in England.
GL Hearn was appointed to prepare a preventative planned maintenance survey of the premises working with the conservation and design department at Cheshire West & Chester Council.
Stewart Holland, associate director of building consultancy at GL Hearn, said: "The Three Old Arches was once the largest medieval town house in the Chester Rows and dates back to the 13 Century. It is a vital piece of Chester's history and we are working closely with Lee Baron, F&C REIT and the local authority to ensure that the necessary repair works are identified in order to ensure the premises is maintained and preserved as an important part of Chester's architectural history."
