Harworth refreshes Bolton build-to-rent scheme

Revised proposals featuring 145 homes on the former Tarmac site off Stopes Road in Little Lever have been lodged with the council.

Harworth won outline planning approval for a 132-home build-to-rent project on the same 15-acre site last year.

Since then, the developer has increased the number of units, so a fresh planning application is required.

Working with architect DGL Associates and planner Satplan, Harworth proposes building 49 two-bedroom homes 82 with three bedrooms and 14 with four.

Harworth purchased the former Tarmac concrete factory in 2020 and has already cleared the site in preparation for its redevelopment.

Seddon is lined up to build the scheme.

The Little Lever project would be part of Harworth’s 1,200-home single-family build-to-rent portfolio.

In May, the developer launched a hunt for an investor to back the portfolio, known as Project Spur.
