Harworth’s 132-home Bolton scheme tipped for approval

On 24 June, the council will weigh in on outline plans to transform the former brickworks site in Little Lever into a neighbourhood.

The 15-acre majority brownfield site sits on Stopes Road. Proposed works include demolishing existing buildings to create a mixture of detached, semi-detached and mews-style homes that are no higher than 2.5 storeys.  Hundreds of car park spaces would also be developed as part of the application. Green spaces are built into the scheme. The northern section of the site is greenfield and, under Harworth’s plans, will remain undeveloped.

Part of the project does sit within allocated Green Belt space, however, the scheme only calls for construction on brownfield portions.

Planning committee officer Jode Turton recommended the scheme for approval, subject to conditions. Because of the size of the project and the fact it involves land located on a Green Belt, the council’s decision will be referred to the Secretary of State.
