Gleeson puts in for 300 Whitehaven homes

Reserving more than half of the 51-acre greenfield plot for public open space, the housebuilder has detailed its plans to build a mixture of maisonettes, bungalows, semi-detached, and detached houses on land off Harras Road.

Gleeson recruited Edward Architects to draft the Whitehaven proposals, which comprise of 27 social rent homes, 18 for discount market sale, and 255 for open market sale. Of the 300 homes, eight would have one bedroom, 54 would have two, 143 would have three, and 95 would have four.

Access to the site would be from two points: Harras Road and Caldbeck Road. A new spine road would link the two, with secondary and tertiary roads branching off to make cul-de-sacs. There would be
