Firms picked for £170m schools panel
Contractors have been selected for the £170m North Wales Schools & Public Buildings Contractors Framework.
The four-year framework will be shared by councils in Conwy, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Anglesey. The bulk of the work will be procured through the Welsh Government's £1.4bn 21st Century Schools Programme, with funding matched 50:50 by the government and local education authority.
The framework is split into three separate lots according to the size of the job; between £4.35m and £7.5m; between £7.5m and £15m; and exceeding £15m. The lowest threshold of £4.35m refers to the current OJEU threshold for works determined by the European Commission.
In the first lot, from £4.35m to £7.5m, there were 23 applicants. The winners were:
- Read Construction, Wrexham
- Watkin Jones & Son, Llandygai
- Balfour Beatty Construction, Sutton Weaver
- Miller Construction, Newton-le-Willows
- Wynne Construction, Rhyl
- Kier Construction, Llay
In lot two, contract value from £7.5m up to £15m, for which there were 15 offers, the selected contractors were:
- Kier Construction
- Miller Construction
- Watkin Jones & Son
- Willmott Dixon Construction, Oldham
- Wynne Construction
- Balfour Beatty Construction
