Edge departs Mills & Reeve for growing rival

Mike Edge has left the firm after seven and a half years to join Beyond Corporate.

Beyond Corporate, part of the Beyond Law Group, has appointed Edge as partner and head of real estate, a hire that the firm’s managing partner has described as a “pivotal moment” for the business.

“As we continue to scale, Mike’s wealth of experience, deep market knowledge, extensive network and strategic awareness will elevate our real estate capabilities and align perfectly with our vision for the next phase of growth,” said James Corlett.

“We’ve laid the foundations – now we’re building ambitiously on them.”

Edge, who was a partner at Pinsent Masons between 2010 and 2017, is a well-known figure in North West property, having advised major clients on urban regeneration projects throughout his 40-year career.

He formerly worked for law firm Halliwells, which entered administration in 2010. Edge was Halliwells’ national head of real estate before its collapse.

“There is a real sense of momentum here – an entrepreneurial mindset, a collaborative culture and an unwavering focus on clients,” Edge said of his new employer.

“This is an exceptional platform from which to build one of the leading real estate practices in the market, and I look forward to playing a part in shaping its future.”

Edge will work alongside fellow real estate partner Hannah Al-Shaghana.

Other firms within the Beyond Law Group include McAlister Family Law, Home Property Law, and Vault Private Client.

Beyond’s real estate team has tripled in size over the last three years having been instructed on various build-to-rent projects worth a combined £500m.
