ECF unveils next tranche of Salford homes

A 22-storey building comprising 196 apartments is the latest phase of the development consortium’s £1bn Salford Central regeneration.

Designed by Hawkins\Brown, English Cities Fund’s project will be constructed between its Slate Yard and Novella schemes.

Together, Slate Yard and Novella offer more than 600 apartments. Slate Yard is complete and Novella is on course to complete in the coming months.

The latest residential tower, located on plot C2 within the masterplan, will take the total number of homes across the three buildings beyond 800.

ECF, made up of Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England, has submitted an application for the project to Salford City Council.

Max Bentham, senior development manager at ECF, said: “We are excited to submit a planning application for the next phase of homes in Salford Central.

“We’ve worked hard to transform this area of city across nearly two decades, providing a choice of homes, fantastic workspace, public spaces and amenities, bringing investment, new jobs and communities, to deliver real benefits for the people of the city.”

Subject to planning approval, construction could commence early next year.

As well as homes, the 50-acre Salford Central masterplan also includes New Bailey, a commercial cluster of five office buildings totalling more than 650,000 sq ft.

Nearby, ECF was selected as Salford City Council’s development partner for the £2.5bn, 240-acre Crescent transformation in 2020.
