DLA poaches Eversheds construction trio

DLA Piper has appointed David Moss, Paul Giles and Nigel Proctor as partners and a consultant respectively in its Manchester office.

All three will join the firm from Eversheds, at a date yet to be confirmed, and sit within the global infrastructure, construction and transport team.

Moss is a contentious construction lawyer with 25 years’ experience specialising in project management, contract administration and resolution of claims in the civil, heavy engineering power and process, primarily oil and gas, and building industries, both nationally and internationally. He is also an accredited adjudicator and mediator.

Giles is also a contentious construction lawyer with 15 years’ experience specialising in dispute avoidance and resolution, with particular focus on the road, rail, oil and gas, heavy engineering, water/waste water and nuclear industries nationally and internationally.

Proctor is dual qualified as a non-contentious construction lawyer and a chartered civil engineer and has over 20 years’ experience advising on both client funded and project financed infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally. Proctor has particular expertise in drafting, negotiating and advising upon EPC and related documents for the construction and engineering sector, primarily, water, rail, oil and gas, nuclear, waste and renewables.

They first worked together at Hammonds (now Squire Patton Boggs), Proctor then joined Addleshaw Goddard and Moss and Giles joined McGrigors (now Pinsent Masons), before they were reunited at Eversheds in 2012.

David Gray, UK head of the litigation and regulatory group at DLA Piper, said: “They are a top quality team with a strong UK and international reputation. They will be a considerable asset to the UK construction disputes team, as well as the firm’s infrastructure, construction and transport sector, and their significant international experience will help develop both globally.”

Liam Cowell, managing partner of the firm’s Manchester office and a finance and projects partner, added: “David, Paul and Nigel are a dynamic team who have worked together for a number of years at different firms and have built a significant practice together. Their appointment will increase our breadth of experience in the infrastructure sector not only in the North West but across the UK and internationally.”

Tis a shame there is no picture like those two that did the hip hop stance last week! I could see Mr Moss in the middle like a member of run DMC.
